Bester Performance is a sports development and management company focused on growing the sport of cycling through attracting sponsors to our beloved sport, managing professional cycling teams, creating a safe training environment for club members, coaching and developing athletes of all ages and levels of experience to reach their full potential and achieve their goals.

The Bester Performance coaching academy was started in October 2017 by Shaun-Nick Bester after making the decision to step down from the international road cycling circuit with the aim to pass down the knowledge and experience that he obtained over the past 15 years of his competitive cycling career. He has worked with cycling coaches and dieticians from all over the world, raced in most countries in Europe, Africa and Russia.

Shaun-Nick is a UCI (international cycling union) certified cycling coach with a passion to help improve athletes of all ages, fitness and experience levels and their overall cycling performance by building customized training plans and performance specific eating plans to fit in with each athlete’s daily training time availability, strengths, weaknesses, goals and experience levels.

SHAUN-NICK BESTER

I started racing more seriously and training with a purpose in 2005 when I turned 14 years old. It was always my dream to become a European professional road cyclist. In 2009 I went to Europe the first time and competed in most of the nations cups (world cups) on the road and also went to the junior world road race championships where I placed 25th. The year after that I got my first European amateur team contract. I stayed and raced in Spain for 3 years then returned to South Africa and raced locally for 2 years. In 2015 I went to the All African Games in Brazzaville, Congo and formed part of the team who took part in the team time trial competition and we managed to win a gold medal, I also went on to finish in 6th position overall on the road race. This set me up for that long awaited professional European contract which I was searching for since the beginning and I the following year I signed for a Portuguese continental team where I raced another 2 years before making the decision at the end of 2017 to return to South Africa and try my hand at mountain biking. My first event I took part in was Tour de Plett where I placed 3rd overall and I was hooked. From that day on I decided to focus solely on mountain bike racing and the rest is history.

I have always been a keen mountain biker but took my cycling to the next level when joining the Bester Performance Titan Racing team in 2022. Mountain biking is my happy place and takes me on incredible adventures. I conquered Absa Cape Epic in 2023 in my first year riding elite and am looking forward to new and exciting challenges to come .

About: Coming from small town in spain, basketball player for over 9years. I Came to South Africa 12 years ago and I am loving it here. Started cycling more seriously after my baby girl was Born :) I love technical riding,XCO courses and enduro lines! My bike makes me happy, everyday. I love to be happy and be smiling, and make others happy too!
