Gert grew up in George where his deep passion for mountain biking formed at a young age. His journey led him to claim multiple national titles in both XCO and Marathon disciplines as well as winning a stage at the prestigious Cape Epic. He showed his versatility as a bike rider by finishing on podiums in anything from national road racing championships through to MTB Enduro events. While he may have retired from professional racing, Gert remains a familiar sight on the trails, navigating the scenic landscapes of Stellenbosch aboard his trusty Skyrim.
