ABOUT

LETSHEGO ZULU

I enjoyed road running for over 10years until I realised cycling is less painful and has far less injuries than running (that’s of course if you don’t fall off your bike). I got introduced to cycling in 2019 and my first race (with no cycling training) was the 94.7 Cycle Challenge in Jhb. Yes, I did cross the finish line but in just under 6hrs. Years later and I have ten 94.7 medals under my belt with my fastest time so far being 3:30. Fast forward to today, I consider myself a cyclist first and runner second. Cycling is my happy, peaceful space. I can ride my bike 5-6 days a week. I love how cycling, (especially mtb) exposes me to the most remote and beautiful locations in our country. Most places that you can only get to on your bike, not by car. Over the years I have witnessed the most wonderful sunrises and sunsets on my bike and have travelled extensively. I’ve participated in various races from one day events to multiple Absa Cape Epics, Cape Pioneers and Joberg2C’s. I’ve even had the opportunity to ride in places like the Pyrenees in the South of France. I may not be a professional cyclist but I definitely hold my own on the road and trails. I do this to inspire other women that they can also ride bikes and take part in challenging races as well.
